This is a special project in which students will earn internship credit for designing and producing a new web
site as a group. The project is to design a web site for the Greater State Street Council; a business
organization made up of businesses on State Street in downtown Chicago that promotes business and special events
on State Street. This project is an opportunity for students to apply their knowledge of web design and
computer imaging programs to a real project. Students will gain experience working with a client to design a
finished product.
The council will provide us with design criteria, copy and images. Working in small groups, students will
develop at least three proposals that will each include a navigational structure, basic page layout and look for
the new web site. Each group will present their proposal to a representative from the State Street Council.
Based on the council's feedback, the class will develop a final proposal. After that is approved, the class
will complete the web site for the State Street Council.

This project is designed to be an internship class. The emphasis will be on completing the web site. Most
class time will be spent working on the project. Students may also have to work outside of class to complete
the project. Students are expected to participate fully.
The majority of the work for this project will be done on the computer. It is your responsibility to make
back-ups of all of your work and to take care of your disks. Students will be expected to work in small groups
and to share the workload evenly.
There is no textbook for this class. Students are expected to use their knowledge and resources from
previous classes as needed and to share information with each other.
