Bensenville campus advisor recognized at RMC Proclamation Ceremony

Pamela Tranchita helps one of her students organize his schedule.
A few weeks ago, Pam Tranchita, an academic advisor for the Bensenville Campus, received recognition for being the top advisor in having the highest graduation rate of students. Having worked as an academic advisor at Robert Morris College for two and a half years, Tranchita has since proven to be a hard worker, friendly to the students, and dedicated to the College.
“Pam is very dedicated to her students. She is available, accountable and dependable. The students really appreciate those traits in their advisor. They trust and respect her because they know she will always steer them in the right direction,” said Diane Allen, the Director of Education at the Bensenville campus.
Tranchita has always had an interest and passion for education, and because of that and her dedication to students, entered the advising field. “Education is a very crucial way to help people improve their quality of life,” said Tranchita. “[This recognition] was a very proud moment for me.”
Tranchita’s duties are all-encompassing, and she handles many responsibilities well. She is responsible for all of the Bensenville campus’ students. Her duties consist of planning the schedules for students, helping to motivate students to improve their grades, and ensuring the students graduate on time.
An ideal advisor shows patience and understanding. An ideal advisor can communicate the reason a student’s schedule is the way it is and the benefits that follow from it. An ideal advisor does not worry about his or her popularity with the students, but looks out for the success and best interest of their students. “Pam respects and shows interest in every student,” said Billy Butler, a student at the Bensenville campus.
A master’s degree is the preferred degree to be an advisor. “Having a degree in psychology, sociology, or social work could probably work in one’s favor because it gives the necessary people skills that this job requires a person to have,” said Tranchita.
Tranchita is happy with her job and loves what she does. In the next 5-10 years, she said, she would like to continue in the field of education but hopefully become a dean or director someday.
Overall, Tranchita has had a positive effect on the students at Robert Morris College. Her recent recognition has been well-deserved.
