RMC Chicago’s Men’s Basketball wins CCAC Championship

On March 1, the RMC men’s basketball team became the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Champions, with a 115-88 win over Indiana University-South Bend. The game was played at home at the Gentile Center at Loyola University gym in Rogers Park, and it was Senior Night. This win marked the fifth CCAC championship in six years; RMC men’s basketball has eight total championships.

RMC Culinary students explore “Going Green”

On Jan. 28, Chef John Hudoc took his Culinary 130 class on a field trip to the Wheaton Whole Foods Market. As Chef Hudoc is an avid organic grocery store shopper, he brought his students in for a tour to teach them about the organic food movement and to support the Cultural Connections mission of focusing on green themes.

NIU: Coping with a familiar tragedy

Last month, tragedy struck Northern Illinois University campus. A lone gunman stepped into a lecture hall, and then he opened fire. Six were lost in the following minutes, including the gunman himself, and 16 more were wounded.

This is not the first time America has been placed in this situation, and while we hold hope that it may be the last, it is not likely that this will be the case.

Sláinte on St. Patrick’s Day! Irish Fare for an Irish Holiday

On St. Patrick’s Day, everyone is Irish! The Patron Saint of this Guinness guzzling holiday is believed to have driven snakes out of the bonny isle, and is one of Christianity’s most widely known figures.

Today the “Irish” worldwide celebrate with wearing green, attending parades and eating Irish cuisine. So for this St. Patty’s day, try preparing a traditional Irish feast for friends and family. Stock up on Irish Whiskey and Guinness, put on some Lord of the Dance, and get ready to shout Éirinn go Brách (Cheers to Ireland). All recipes courtesy of Irish Food and Cooking.
