The Revenge of Fois Gras

By Matt Kirouac
Editor-in-Chief

Two years ago, it became illegal for restaurants in Chicago to sell fois gras on their menu. However, much like the short-lived age of prohibition, the ruling did not stick. Just when ducks thought they could rest easy, and that feeding tubes would no longer be stuffed down their gullets, the law fell through. By a city council vote of 37-6, it once again became acceptable for people to dine on abnormally fatty duck liver. Why there has been such a nagging demand for this cruel delicacy or why people simply can’t make do with other irresistible liver dishes is beyond me.

By Matt Kirouac
Editor-in-Chief

How about a bowlful of pure summertime refreshment. The sweet flavors of a smoothie, yogurt, and cereal balance the line between dessert and health food. Juicy cantaloupe is pureed together in a sugar-syrup before mixing with yogurt, sour cream, and honey to make what results as essentially a drinkable creamsicle.

Editor-in-Chief

The menu language, the wait staff, the interior design reminiscent of a cabana beach house and the spread of stuffyour- face food all contribute to an experience that will whisk you away for a brief jaunt to sunny Puerto Rico.
