Bensenville BPA members deliver scholarly presentation

During the Summer I quarter, Bensenville students Melissa Cantu, Andrea Hodzic and Bensenville Director of Education, Diane Allen, delivered a scholarly presentation at the Bensenville Campus to Robert Morris College faculty, staff and students. The presentation focused on their success representing the RMC Bensenville Chapter of the Business Professionals of America in an intense business- presentation competition at the National Leadership Conference held.

RMC Honors students greenmap Naperville Riverwalk

Under the watchful and inventive tutelage of full time English professor, Gerard Wozek, Robert Morris College DuPage Honors students were encouraged to explore the connection between literature, art and nature with jaunts to the serene Naperville Riverwalk during their Summer 1, English 232 course. In the heart of bustling DuPage County lies the tranquil 75 acre, fourmile long Riverwalk, its humble origins dating back to an acre and a half beginning in the early 1980's, built and dedicated to celebrate the city of Naperville’s Sesquicentennial.

Design students attend World’s Trade Fair

Every year, in June, the World’s Trade Fair for interior designers comes to the city of Chicago. Starting in 1969, with only 750 exhibitors, NeoCon (The National Exposition of Contract Furnishings,) is a resource for the design field.

This year more than 1,200 showrooms and exhibitors were at NeoCon. Held at Chicago’s Merchandise Mart, NeoCon joins together both the residential and commercial sides of the design world in a unique combination.



New librarian joins the Bensenville family

The Bensenville Campus has hired a new librarian, Josh Sopiarz, who brings a multitude of talents and skills to the students, faculty, and staff. While all librarians have a library science degree, Sopiarz has accomplished even more than that. Having attended Eastern Illinois University, University of Illinois, and St. Louis University, Sopiarz was able to work towards Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in History, and currently toward a PhD in American Studies.

However, some of the constants people observe are changing in ways that most never even notice. Such an occasion, a change that some are now taking full advantage of, is occurring in Peoria. The Peoria community is beginning to notice new offerings in the area of higher education.

A relay of hope

On June 13, Management 211 students from Robert Morris College’s Bensenville Campus volunteered for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life event held at Fenton High School, in Bensenville. The Relay for Life is a non-for-profit organization that raises money for Cancer survivors and for those who currently have the disease.

College announces 08’-09’ resident advisors

Libby Julia, the Director of Student Life/Housing, has just announced the Resident Advisor team for the 2008-2009 academic year. As the demand for student housing has continued to grow, so has the demand for individuals that possess the talent to hold a leadership role while remaining in good academic standing. “An RA is a student of many talents. A party planner, role model, a mediator, a friend and the voice of reason at 3:00 in the morning,” said Julia. Housing is half of the college experience.
