Former All-American Miriam Merrill chosen to lead RMC Track team

After three seasons as an assistant coach for the Robert Morris Women's Track & Field team, former All- American Miriam Merrill will take over as head coach for the 2008-2009 season, RMC Athletic Director Megan Smith Eggert announced on June 24, 2008.

Originally from Bolivar, OH, just outside of Canton, Coach Merrill was an outstanding athlete as an Ohio prep, finishing state runner-up in both the discus and shot put.

After four straight invitations to the United Dance Association's national championship competition, the Robert Morris Dance team will look to take another step forward under the guiding hand of new head coach Sheena Baskerville. "Sheena has some great experience as both a choreographer and team coach," said RMC Athletic Director Megan Smith Eggert when announcing the appointment on June 11, 2008. "Her enthusiasm will help energize the team's performance."

Major League Baseball’s All-Star game is upon us and I couldn’t be less excited. Several years ago, after MLB’s All-Star game ended in an embarrassing tie, baseball commissioner Bud Selig and the league’s owners decided to alter the “midsummer classic” by awarding home-field advantage in the World Series to the winning team. The thought was that the stakes would put some meaning into an otherwise meaningless exhibition game.
